A single bout of resistance or high-intensity interval training increases anti-cancer myokines and suppresses cancer cell growth in vitro in survivors of breast cancer

This study examined how a single session of either resistance training (RT) or high-intensity interval training (HIIT) affected anti-cancer molecules (myokines) and breast cancer cell growth in a lab setting using blood samples from breast cancer survivors. Both RT and HIIT increased myokine levels and reduced cancer cell growth in the lab, with HIIT showing slightly stronger effects on cell growth immediately after exercise.

Effect of KAATSU training on a patient with benign fasciculation syndrome

This case study examined the effects of KAATSU training, a type of exercise with restricted blood flow, on a single patient with benign fasciculation syndrome (BFS). The patient experienced improvements in muscle strength, muscle mass, and quality of life, including reduced pain. However, the study's extremely small sample size limits the conclusions that can be drawn.

TRPV1 alleviates osteoarthritis by inhibiting M1 macrophage polarization via Ca²+/CaMKII/Nrf2 signaling pathway

This study found that TRPV1, a receptor activated by capsaicin (the compound that makes chili peppers spicy), can reduce inflammation in joints affected by osteoarthritis. Activating TRPV1 inhibits the activity of M1 macrophages, which drive inflammation and joint damage, and promotes cartilage health in a rat model.

An image J plugin for the high throughput image analysis of in vitro scratch wound healing assays

This paper introduces a new ImageJ/Fiji plugin, 'Wound Healing Size Tool', for analyzing in vitro scratch wound healing assays. This plugin aims to automate the process of quantifying wound area, coverage, average width, and width standard deviation, allowing for high-throughput analysis of scratch assays. Testing shows that conditioned media from hAdMSCs promotes faster wound closure and higher cell migration rates in HaCaT cells compared to control media.

Re-epithelialization and immune cell behaviour in an ex vivo human skin model

This study established a novel ex vivo human skin wound model using suction blisters, mimicking the regenerative process of wound healing. The model showed successful re-epithelialization and differentiation of epidermal cells, suggesting its potential for testing wound healing therapies.
