Assessment of the heavy metal bioremediation efficiency of the novel marine lactic acid bacterium, Lactobacillus plantarum MF042018

Lactobacillus plantarum MF042018, a novel marine lactic acid bacterium, exhibits high tolerance to nickel and chromium and effectively removes them from aqueous solutions. The study also demonstrates its capacity for cadmium and lead biosorption, with optimal removal achieved at acidic pH and low temperature (22°C), fitting the Langmuir isotherm model.

Colon Cancer-Associated Fusobacterium nucleatum May Originate From the Oral Cavity and Reach Colon Tumors via the Circulatory System

This study suggests that Fusobacterium nucleatum found in colorectal cancer may originate from the mouth and reach the gut via the bloodstream. Using genomic sequencing of patient-matched oral and tumor F. nucleatum isolates, along with mouse models, researchers demonstrated more efficient tumor colonization via intravenous inoculation than oral gavage.

Are parents' education levels associated with either their oral health knowledge or their children's oral health behaviors? A survey of 8446 families in Wuhan

Parents with higher education levels in Wuhan tend to have better oral health knowledge and prioritize oral health care needs like pit and fissure sealants. Their children also exhibit better oral hygiene practices. Mother's education appears to be a stronger predictor of these outcomes than father's education.
