We plugged ChinaXiv into Paperzilla 🇨🇳

Paperzilla is the “must-reads” filter for research. It scans new papers every day and turns them into a short relevant digest, so you can stay current without drowning in tabs.

We just plugged ChinaXiv into Paperzilla. It's a niche stream, but it occasionally surfaces papers you just don't see in the usual preprint circuit, summarized in English, and linked back to the original source.

What is ChinaXiv?

ChinaXiv is China's official preprint platform, launched in 2016 by the National Science Library of the Chinese Academy of Sciences. It hosts over 45,000 Chinese preprints across 30+ disciplines. The most active fields are Psychology, Astronomy, Physics, Library & Information Science, and Biology, but there's solid coverage across medicine, materials science, and environmental research too.

One quirk: there's no dedicated ML/AI category. If you're looking for machine learning papers, you'll find them tucked away under "Integration Theory Of Computer Science." Lost in translation? Maybe. But the papers are real.

This isn't a "big reveal" and it won’t change the big picture: the most widely recognized work still tends to land in the major international journals and venues. But adding ChinaXiv widens the early-signal radar a bit, especially in areas where there’s a lot of activity in China that doesn’t immediately show up in the feeds most of us track.

The workflow stays the same: arXiv / bioRxiv / medRxiv + ChinaXiv in one place, with each digest item grounded to where it came from. If you’re curious, check out today’s must-reads and see what pops up.

What’s next

  • Adding PubMed
  • A bigger long-term project: Living Literature Review (this deserves its own post)

Try it

If this sounds useful, click “See today’s must-reads” on the home page and your first digest will land in your inbox within 10 minutes.
