Lychee has undergone two independent domestication events, one for early-maturing cultivars from Yunnan and another for late-maturing cultivars from Hainan. Early-maturing cultivars likely arose from hybridization and a deletion near a CONSTANS-like gene may play a role in fruit maturation timing.
This study found that optimal potassium levels (6 mM) enhance growth, root development, nitrogen metabolism, and carbon assimilation in M9T337 apple rootstock seedlings. Both potassium deficiency and excess inhibited growth and various physiological processes, highlighting the importance of balanced potassium fertilization for efficient nutrient utilization and improved apple production.
This study reports thirty-two new and noteworthy floristic records from north-eastern Greece, including seven new additions to the Greek flora and twenty-five new records to the regional Greek flora. The findings emphasize the importance of Balkan border areas as a source of new floristic elements and highlight the need for further exploration in these understudied regions.
