Teixobactin: Double Trouble for Bacterial Membranes! (But Still Some Questions)
Teixobactin kills bacteria through a two-pronged attack: it inhibits cell wall synthesis by binding to lipid II and disrupts bacterial membranes by forming supramolecular fibrils that displace phospholipids and thin the membrane. This dual action makes teixobactin highly effective against multidrug-resistant Gram-positive bacteria.
